A General Treatment of Solubility. 3. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of the Solubilities of Diverse Solutes in Diverse Solvents

چکیده
A phenomenological study of solubility has been conducted using a combination of quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) and principal component analysis (PCA). A solubility database of 4540 experimental data points was used that utilized available experimental data into a matrix of 154 solvents times 397 solutes. Methodology in which QSPR and PCA are combined was developed to predict the missing values and to fill the data matrix. PCA on the resulting filled matrix, where solutes are observations and solvents are variables, shows 92.55% of coverage with three principal components. The corresponding transposed matrix, in which solvents are observations and solutes are variables, showed 62.96% of coverage with four principal components.

A General Treatment of Solubility 4. Description and Analysis of a PCA Model for Ostwald Solubility Coefficients
Principal component analysis (PCA) of a large data matrix (153 solvents x 396 solutes) for Ostwald solubility coefficients (log L) resulted in a two-component model covering 98.6% of the variability. Analysis of the principal components exposed the structural characteristics of solutes and solvents that codify interactions which determine the behavior of a chemical in the surrounding media. The...
متن کاملPhytoplankton Community and Physical-Chemical Characteristics of Seawater in the Bandar Abbas Coastal Water, Persian Gulf: An Environmental and Process Perspective
Seawater ecosystems are controlled by multitude various abiotic and biotic factors. These factors also affect the activities of coastal human communities and installations including coastal desalination plants. This research investigated a point environmental (physical and chemical) and biological (phytoplankton) parameters of Bandar Abbas coastal water in 3 depth layers of 1, 5 and 10 m carrie...
متن کاملInvestors' Perception of Bank Risk Management: Multivariate Analysis Techniques
According to the nature of their activities, banks are exposed to various types of risks. Hence, risk management is at the heart of financial institutions management. In this study, we intend to summarize the information content of bank financial statements on diverse risks faced by banks and then determine how stock markets react to bank's risk management behavior. The methodology used in this...
متن کاملMultivariate analysis of hydrophobic descriptors
Multivariate approaches like principal component analysis (PCA) are powerful tools to investigate hydrophobic descriptors and to discriminate between intrinsic hydrophobicity and polar contributions as hydrogen bonds and other electronic effects. PCA of log P values measured for 37 solutes in eight solventwater systems and of hydrophobic octanol-water substituent constants for 25 metaand para...
متن کاملSolubility Prediction of Anthracene in Non-Aqueous Solvent Mixtures Using Jouyban-Acree Model
A quanitative structure property relationship was proposed to calculate the binary interaction terms of the Jouyban-Acree model using solubility parameter, boiling point, vapour pressure and density of solvents. The applicability of the proposed method for reproducing solubility data of anthracene in binary solvents has been evaluated using 116 solubility data sets collected from the lite...
